Mission
Development and management of local infrastructure for increasing farm/non-farm production, generating employment, improving socio-economic condition, promoting local governance, reducing poverty and acting as agent of change at the local level.
Mission and Vision LGED's mission: To increase productivity in agriculture and non-agricultural sectors through local infrastructure development and management, create employment, improve socio-economic conditions, improve the management system of local government institutions and act as a catalyst for poverty alleviation at the local level.
LGED's vision: As a government agency, LGED will play a professional, efficient and effective role in implementing the following interrelated and supportive activities:
1) It will work for the development, maintenance and management of transport, trade and small scale water resources by ensuring the participation of people and local government institutions considering social and environmental issues.
2) Capacity building of local government institutions through technical and institutional support and will provide services to local people and stakeholders.
Vision
LGED would continue to remain professionally competent, efficient and effective public sector agency for performing the interrelated and complementary functions of:
1) Developing, maintaining and managing transport, trading and small scale water resources infrastructure at the local level by ensuring LGI and community participation and taking care of environmental and social issues.
2) Providing technical and institutional support to strengthen the local government institutions and serving local communities and other stakeholders.
